We rolled a critical success before we roasted our coffee.

When determining the names of our coffee, we wanted to come up with something that described not only the coffee, but the spirit of Adventure. We believe that adventure is something everyone craves… it’s more than escapism, more than a big daydream, but both of those things, too. It’s based around this word that we like called: Hiraeth, it’s a Welsh word that most accurately captures the feeling that we want to convey with our coffee. It means: (n.) a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the places of your past.

One of the untouched, and underrepresented avenues of coffee is the nerdy and the outdoors market. And guess what? We’re both. We want you to drink our coffee before you go to work in the morning, and get your day started. We want to be the coffee that you brew over the campfire. We want to be the coffee in your mug, or on ice, before you settle in to down that raid. We want to be the choice you make before you and your friends challenge the DM’s BBEG. We want to be your coffee, plain and simple. Give us a shot, and the flavor will seal the deal.

The first roast we knew we needed to come up with was our flagship brew. It needed to be both nerdy and outdoorsy, and have all the flavors and notes that you need when you’re outside or indoors and be the kind of roast that has all the flavor you want and need, without being too harsh, and pushing some tasters away. Thus, Base Camp was born. The bean is Colombian in origin, Excelso Grade, Gran Galope. It has beautifully bright notes of lemon and lime with a soft tartness, but a full bodies delight that really makes your taste buds sing! The name represents a coming together of two separate yet similar ideas. Base Camp is the starting point of any adventure, the resting place for your adventuring party, the ground level of your climbing team, and generally the place you call home when you’re away from home.

The second roast we had to lock in was the dark roast. Every coffee drinker has had an experience with a dark roast. Too much body, not enough. Too harsh, and way too soft. It’s hard to keep a dark roast drinker happy, because a good dark roast is more than just a burnt bean — it’s the heart and soul of the bean, slow roasted to perfection. We scored that in our Dungeons and Dark Roast. The bean is Colombian in origin, Excelso Grade, Gran Galope Narino. The bean is a work of art, in of itself, with citrusy notes on top of cocoa, dark, smoky notes, and an oddly delicate mouthfeel for a roast of its type. If you hadn’t figured it out, the name comes from everyone’s favorite tabletop RPG: Dungeons and Dragons. Historically, it gave us a place to sit down and go on our first adventures. There was no way we weren’t going to honor it.

Third, we needed a blonde roast to treat our lighter, breakfast blend drinkers right. From the chaff of many beans, Faire Maiden was born. The roast was a delicate, nutty, light mouthfeel roast that originated in Brazil. The bean itself is the perfect canvas, but after many hours of precision roasting and dedication, we developed the flavor that can make any coffee drinker happy, but can also produce the right bridge for a tea drinker to enjoy some coffee. Ironically, it has some of the higher caffeine content due to its lighter roast. (Did you know that?! Not everyone does.) The name pretty fair(e)ly represents the roast, but also the concept of a Renaissance Faire, a place in this day and age, where you can be someone from another time.

Last but not least, our fourth roast was Bean to the Future. We had to have a decaf for the folks out there that choose not to — or can’t — drink caffeine. The beauty of our decaffeinated blend is that it’s probably the smoothest, more flavorful decaf coffee out there. We surprised ourselves when the roast came to fruition. Coming from Cauca, Colombia, the bean has natural, light, fruity flavors, with graham back notes. It’s heavy, doc, but it’s a delicious coffee, and it might just carry you into the future, and back again.

I love the fresh roasted coffee here. I’m so tired of the burnt taste from other places. I actually drink Adventurer’s Coffee black since it’s so smooth! ...
